So, Some of you may remember from last year that when my friends & I read the first three books in the Twilight series we (like the rest of the world) were hooked. I really hadn't taken time to read much before, but these books were so fun it inspired me to start a book club. Our first meeting was to discuss these three books. I called the book club bitten because I had been "bitten" by the reading bug (and also the whole vampire thing made it sound clever. ha ha)
We have continued through the year not as often as we'd hoped, but we're working on that. Last week we hit our year mark & celebrated by discussing the fourth and final book, Breaking Dawn. I hosted.
I personally was VERY disappointed with the book. I felt like it was boring, slow and extremely cheesy. The only real good thing that came from it, in my opinion was the excuse to have another fun get together with my girl-friends. Most of the other girls felt the same way, only not quite as strong. There were a few who liked it.
I also read Stephanie Meyer's book The Host. I didn't enjoy that much either. I think it put a bad taste in my mouth for her writing, which honestly makes me sad because I LOVED the first 3. I'm curious, dose anyone else feel the same way? Any thoughts on this subject are welcome, just don't try to convince me I'm wrong. My opinion is that Breaking Dawn bit it. She could have done so much more with the story...... UHG! Okay- I won't get into it. The book club was really fun though-
One thing that I absolutely love about my friends out here is that they know how to cook!!! We did a dinner and had everyone chip in by bringing a soup, salad or dessert. I supplied the bread bowls. Everything was SO YUMMY! See, you can tell I grew up a fat kid because I still love to talk about food! But come on a Chocolate Pumpkin Cheesecake, doesn't that make everyone drool?
We had so much fun chatting, catching up and discussing the book. I really feel like I'm home here with these girls. I hope they all know how important they are to me. (sniff sniff) Okay, and I was complaining about Stephanie Meyer being cheesy?
Even though I didn't love this book like I had the others, it just wouldn't be fare not to make a CD like we had before. So Melessa and I got together again to create our soundtrack for Breaking Dawn. Can I just say it was really hard! Harder than I thought. There were so many little story lines that happened, but didn't always mean a whole lot to the story, so we had to decided what we felt had to be represented or not.( I think this made me like the book even less). We are pretty happy with the outcome, However we did have to cut a few songs that we really wanted because of CD space. I'm going to post the complete playlist here, even though the CD doesn't have all these songs. Could someone please make a CD-R that is longer than 80 mins!

...... Now, I wasn't going to post these. But in the interest of super fun girls nights, I must divulge. (I maybe kinda sorta went to the American Idol concert when it came in August). SEE! I wasn't going to tell you because I don't want you to think I'm a nerd or something. Okay, well we all know I am, but what can I do? I had to see David Cook again. But it was good because it helped me get over my little crush.
We had such a fun night. We went to dinner before and had "some adventures" driving there. We were a little late and missed the first act. I was very surprised how well they all did. They were so good. They really do make it look easy on tv.
After the show we saw David Archuleta's Dad and Kristi went over to say Hi and tell him she was from Utah. He was super nice and We got a picture with him. Then it just steamrolled into seeing the other performers and meeting some. We had to wait around a bit and I felt kinda silly about it, but it was all part of the fun. We met Kimberly Caldwell who is dating David Cook. She was very cool & easy to talk to. Since this is his home town she came to met his family & friends. (Don't I sound like I'm one of them? I'm trying hard not to sound so dorky, but I know I'm failing. Oh well, it was fun to hang with B-list celebs).
Surprisingly Kristy Leigh Cook, who was my least favorite- was the nicest to the fans. We talked with her a little while and she seemed pretty normal and very friendly. Brooke White was of corse sweet, but she was rushing to go to dinner with her hubby. Half of the cast didn't even come out to say Hi, which I though was pretty lame of them. I did give David Cook another High 5, but no picture this time. I wasn't about to take another stalker shot. See, I've grown in the past few months!
I still love his voice & he is a fantastic performer. I also talked with his brother Andrew a little bit more. I think we're almost friends. :}
After the AI hoopla we stayed Downtown a little to hang out and chat some more. It was such a fun night. We drove home blasting the music and dancing in the car. I felt like I was 16 again!
My friends are so great! And I have to add that Greg is so great for taking over with the boys every now and then so I can go have a little kid-less fun. :)Thanks!

I don't even know what to say about you. You are too cute.
I love that you met all those people. What a fun life for you. Thanks for sharing those pictures, I"m glad you did, they make me happy. ;)
So much fun!!! I love this ward and all the girls in it. They are all so amazing in so many different ways! I have learned so much from you, and really appreciate your friendship. I had so much fun reading the Twlight Books, even though the last one was cheesy. It just felt good to realize I still know how to read and it can be really fun. :) Your book club was the highlight of my week, heck month. I don't get out very much, so it's a big deal to have a fun "girls' night". I'm excited for the next one coming up. You were an amazing host, so I know why everyone was reluctant to take the torch and host. Thanks for the good times, and thanks for creating my very first "book club" that I'm in.
I don't know. I like cheesy I guess and I don't think the last book was off the mark from the other three, they are young adult vampire love stories.... I loved Breaking Dawn. I'm sure it was hard for Meyers to wrap up her story. I'm so jealous that you have such a big group of girlfriends. How fun.
Glad that you had such an awesome time! I will say that I enjoyed the book, but didn't love it like the first three.
Also, I really, really liked the HOST. It took me a while to get into it, but I really liked it. I just had to set aside the fact that it wasn't a Twilight book and read it.
Looks like you had a ton of fun and I'm sad that I don't live there anymore! Good ole KC!
Will you please stop making me jealous?!
How fun. I need to start one of those groups here. I am glad that you have so many great friends over there, I am happy for you. I love the pictures and I enjoyed seeing the one of Kirsten, I haven't seen her in so long, she looks so cute prego. Tell her I said hi. Hope I get to see you the next time you come in town.
I had no idea that you were a groupie:) That is way cool, I am jealous that you got to hang with Kristy, you should have given her my number, ha,ha! I like your family pic at the top of your blog, such a great fam!
Ummm, I don't think we can be friends anymore...
I really liked the entire compilation of all the Twilight books and I really liked The Host. I read only for entertainment purposes, never to analyze the book. Reading is my escape. Which is why I do not involve myself in book clubs as a rule. Although, had I been there, I would have gone to yours for the social aspect! And cause I love ya, even if you don't like the books.
I love your new family photo--what a cute family! How fun to go to the AI concert--I don't think you're a dork, just a crazy lady! Thanks for the fun book club--I think I'm more into the social aspect of it too. Analyzing the books takes too much energy, which I'm always short on!
You are hilarious! I miss being able to live so close to such a fun gal.
I actually really liked the Host... even better than the twilight books. I felt it was slow at first, but after thinking it over after I read it, I realized that it has such a deeper level in so many ways. I'm a wierdo, but I thought it was good.
Glad to see you are well! Say hello to your cute family!
Ok I have to comment on this post. First of all you are awesome for going out and meeting so many of the AI's. Second I am so with you on Breaking Dawn, I liked the first couple chapters, but then it just dragged on and on and it was cool that seh got to have a baby, but it was just kind of boring. I found my mind wandering which never happened with the first 3. Also it is the only one in the series that I haven't read twice. Oh and I thought the Host was really hard to get in to. I just wanted to finish the book, didn't hate it, but def. didn't love it. With Twighlight, I never wanted the books to end, at least not the 1st 3. Ok there is my opinion which as I read over it, is way to long for a comment, so I will shut up now. Glad you had fun at the concert!
Hey girl... I loved Breaking Dawn. Looks like your family is doing good, your boys are too cute. Miss ya Missy!
looks like you have such a blast with all your girlfriends and I love the book club! I haven't read any of those books yet, but when I do, I'll let you know what I think. You're always having so much fun- i love it. No surprise though- you were always a good time as I remember! haha.
Hey, I hope I am on the list to get the last Twilight/Breaking Dawn CD! I have loved my other CD's... I have learned from you that I love Travis. And I am all about pumpkin cheesecake... come on... total yum. Cool stuff. And hey love the Amer Idol pics... I never saw that you got to meet the cast/crew. I am so out of it... I will be sure Shailey sees your David Archuletta pics. Didn't you think he was amazing in person? I know you are a Cook fan, but Archuletta... wow. Shailey and I love his "crush" song even though Glenn says it is cheesy. Oh well, you can't win them all. Happy to hear your Cook crush is slowly dying... you scared me there for awhile... jk! Love you to pieces.
